SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY CUTS

head-in-the-sand
NEWS FROM WASHINGTON (AP) — “The 11 million Americans who receive Social Security disability face steep benefit cuts next year, the government said Wednesday, handing lawmakers a fiscal and political crisis in the middle of a presidential campaign.
The trustees who oversee Social Security and Medicare said the disability trust fund will run out of money in late 2016. That would trigger an automatic 19 percent cut in benefits, unless Congress acts.”

Republicans say they want changes in the disability program to reduce fraud and to encourage disabled workers to re-enter the work force. Yet just a few months ago the new Republican congress found $269 BILLION and gave the ultra rich 1% a huge tax break…because you know those poor billionaires just don’t have enough money

When are we in this country going to take care of our own citizens? Why have we over the last 30 year been sending trillions of dollars to foreign countries who betray us? Rest assured that with the Iran deal going thru, more money will have to be given to Israel and Saudi Arabia for their defense. Hillery will probably be first in line for giving out those payback handouts.

Good news being that it might just spur more homeless camps to accommodate those of us who will lose our homes. Its Ok folks don’t worry. We realize your house burnt down but look on the bright side. We saved the outhouse.

With candidates such as Walker and Trump I am very frightened  about the future. Thankfully,  John Kasich entered the fray.  In his entry speech  he had a different take about the American dream (a seriously eroded one IMO.) It may have had elements of “The sun is going to rise in America again” theme<” but he acknowledged the hurdles and went on to compare today’s job reality with the past. “The fears about health and job security … will I be bankrupted and loose everything I have worked for.”

I thought: FINALLY,  there is an adult in the room.  I am not saying that he is a perfect candidate. I don’t know his position on many issues but he simply seems like less of a nut case than the rest, and more prepared to lead, not dictate.

He may be a preacher but his entry speech was nothing like Huckabee. It resonated and was inclusive. Why do you want to do this? “If we are not to serve others, why are we here.” Spoken as a Representative, not a Lord of the people.

As for Hillery, the more people get to know her the less likeable she appears. I am hopeful that the progressive wing of the Democratic party is finally waking up and I for one will be hard at work to elect Bernie Sanders.

SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY CUTS — 1 Comment

  1. I really should have called this News Out of Washington — as it promises to have many stories in the year ahead.

Unlike Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders Never Says, ‘When I Become President, I Will Answer Your Question’ Hillary Clinton refuses to take a position on Keystone XL pipeline. What a surprise 🙁 http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jul/28/hillary-clinton-refuses-position-keystone-xl-pipeline
Good article explaining why Sanders might be a better candidate than Clinton. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/liam-miller/sanders_b_7883450.html

My take being: The Giant Sleeping Electorate is finally waking up! It is not “we the Democrat or Republican” But has swung back to. Americans want integrity, NOT Celebrities or those who can be bought by the highest bidder.
The ones accepting big money, are losing!
They say a nation gets the leaders it deserves. Please let us deserve Sanders.
In addition to Keystone XL, the former Secretary of State has also been linked to “silence” on the Trans Pacific Partnership. Again, Senator Bernie Sanders disagrees with Clinton on this stance and is vehemently against TPP.
