{"id":619,"date":"2014-05-12T18:16:47","date_gmt":"2014-05-12T18:16:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sweetgeodes.com\/senft\/?page_id=619"},"modified":"2014-05-12T18:18:23","modified_gmt":"2014-05-12T18:18:23","slug":"herring-salad","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/sweetgeodes.com\/senft\/herring-salad\/","title":{"rendered":"Herring Salad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Verdana,Geneva;\"><strong>IT ISN\u2019T LIKE MOTHER USED TO MAKE! &#8211; <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Unfortunately it is! <\/span><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">by Mary Senft<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Herring Salad Heringsalad<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">2 cups diced boiled potatoes<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1 1\/4 &#8211; 1 1\/2 cups marinated herring filets cut in small pieces<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 3\/4 -1 cup chopped celery with leaves<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1 Tbs. minced chives<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1 Tbs. minced parsley<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1 cup finely cut onions<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1\/4 cup plain yogurt<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1\/2 cup sour cream<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1\/4 cup mayonnaise<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 2 grated tart apples<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 3\/4 tsp. paprika<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 2 Tbs. wine vinegar or lemon juice<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1 tsp. French mustard Dijon<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1\/2 tsp. salt and 1\/4 tsp white pepper<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Combine ingredients and marinate in refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Serve on inner tightly cupped lettuce leaves.
