{"id":1046,"date":"2014-05-18T14:40:59","date_gmt":"2014-05-18T14:40:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sweetgeodes.com\/senft\/?page_id=1046"},"modified":"2014-11-25T11:26:34","modified_gmt":"2014-11-25T11:26:34","slug":"german-rye-bread","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/sweetgeodes.com\/senft\/german-rye-bread\/","title":{"rendered":"German Rye Bread"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Nothing smells better than home-baked bread&#8211;this is a hearty bread, great with mustard, corned beef, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Ingredients:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 2 packages (.25 ounces each) dry yeast<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1\/2 cup warm water (110 degrees F)<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1 1\/2 cups lukewarm milk<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 2 tablespoons white sugar<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1 teaspoon salt<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 1\/2 cup molasses<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 2 tablespoons butter<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 3 1\/4 cups rye flour<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> 2 1\/2 cups bread flour<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Directions:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Dissolve yeast in warm water<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> In a large bowl combine milk, sugar, and salt. Use a mixer to beat in molasses, butter, yeast mixture, and 1 cup of rye flour.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> Use a wooden spoon to mix in the remaining rye flour. Add white flour by stirring until the dough is stiff enough to knead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Knead 5 to 10 minutes, adding flour as needed. If the dough sticks to your hands or the board add more flour.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> Cover dough and let rise 1 to 1 1\/2 hours or until double<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Punch down dough and divide to form two round loaves. Let loaves rise on a greased baking sheet until double, about 1 1\/2 hours.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"> Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
